MakeHampers makes luxury hampers and hampers of distinction for the people who are hard to buy for, sent across the UK: Mouse House cheddars, Mrs Darlington's chutneys, Gnaw chocolate and a bottle picked to go with them, packed by hand into a basket, box or gift bag.
Order before 1pm on a working day and your hamper is dispatched for next day delivery anywhere in mainland UK. A free gift message is included, and a single order can go to as many addresses as you need. Browse gift hampers and gift baskets for every occasion, or talk to our team about gifting for your business.
Every hamper here is hand packed and delivered free, from a boxed gift for one person to a full wicker basket for a family. Browse by what is inside, from cheese and chocolate to wine and savoury treats, or by the moment you are buying for. If none of those quite fit, look at our afternoon tea hampers or our beer hampers.
These are the hampers people order most, and the ones they come back for. Every one is delivered free, with next working day dispatch on orders placed before 1pm.
Most people arrive knowing two things: who it is for, and roughly what they want to spend. Those two answers narrow it down fast.
Work gifting is the most common reason people send a hamper. Gifts for your boss and team gifts land better when the contents can be opened and shared around a desk. A hamper sent to a client's home feels more personal than one sent to their office.
For the big moments, a wedding hamper or an anniversary hamper gives you something with more thought behind it than flowers. A new home hamper is one of the few gifts that gets opened the same day it arrives.
If you are working to a figure, the range splits cleanly. Our hampers under £30 suit a small thank you or a gift from a group. £30 to £50 covers most friends and colleagues. £50 to £100 is close family, milestone birthdays and client gifts, and above £100 sits the larger sharing baskets. When you would sooner not decide at all, our best hampers are the ones that get reordered most.
Check dietary needs before you order. We stock vegan hampers and alcohol free hampers, and every product page carries the full back of pack allergen information as a downloadable PDF under “View product information”. Our letterbox hampers are posted flat through the door, so nobody needs to be home to sign.
Still weighing it up? Our gift inspiration pages sort hampers by budget and bestsellers, and our guide to gift ideas for food lovers is a good starting point.
A hamper is a selection of food and drink packed together as one gift and presented in a basket, box or bag. The gift is the collection, not any single item in it.
Hamper or gift basket? In the UK the two words mean the same thing and are used interchangeably. “Hamper” is the older British term and originally meant the wicker basket itself. “Gift basket” is the American phrasing and has become common here through online shopping. If you are searching for one and finding the other, you are in the right place either way.
What makes a hamper a luxury hamper is the quality and spread of what is inside. Producers in our range include Mouse House, Mrs Darlington's, Filbert's, Gnaw, Popcorn Shed, Elizabeth Shaw and Stag Bakeries of Stornoway, alongside wine, prosecco, beer or spirits picked to sit with the food. Our cheese and wine hampers show it most clearly. The Cheese Connoisseur runs to three Mouse House cheddars, caramelised onion, smoked and vintage, with Stornoway oatcakes, Kalamata olives, a Mrs Darlington's beetroot chutney and both a Merlot and a Sauvignon Blanc.
Not every hamper comes in wicker. Traditional wicker baskets suit larger gifts and get kept and reused afterwards. Presentation boxes and gift bags suit smaller ones. Cheese hampers travel in an insulated cool bag. Letterbox hampers are packed flat to fit through a standard letterbox. All of them are packed by hand in the UK and sent inside a protective outer carton so nothing shifts on the way.
Shelf life depends on the contents. Preserves, biscuits, chocolate and confectionery keep for months and carry best before dates on the pack. Anything fresh is dispatched to arrive well inside its date, which is why fresh food ordered after 1pm on a Thursday waits until the following working day.
If a hamper has arrived from us before, you may recognise the Hampers of Distinction name on the packaging.
Hampers of Distinction is a premium hamper range built around traditional wicker, British preserves, biscuits, confectionery and a considered selection of wine and spirits. It is the classic style of gift hamper: a real basket, a generous spread, and contents that hold up when the box is opened in front of an office or a family.
We supply hampers from this range alongside our own gift boxes and letterbox gifts, so you can send a full traditional basket or something smaller depending on who it is for and what you want to spend.
At the celebratory end, our champagne and prosecco hampers and traditional hampers sit closest to it.
Christmas is our busiest period by a distance, and the range changes to match it.
Our Christmas hampers run from letterbox-sized gifts up to full wicker baskets, alongside seasonal lines that only appear at this time of year. Alcohol advent calendars and Christmas eve boxes both need to be opened on a fixed date, so November is the point to order those.
Companies need longer. Corporate Christmas hampers going to twenty or more addresses are arranged by our team directly, not through the basket, so autumn is the point to get in touch. Leaving it to December limits what is still available.

Ordered for my partner's birthday. Filled with a good variety of treats which he thoroughly enjoyed! Something a bit different as a present and will definitely be ordering again for future gifts.
Bought for my farewell at the office and everyone loved it.
A new company to me. They were very reliable and delivered as promised.

We pack hampers to be opened in front of other people. That drives most of what we do differently.
Everything is packed by hand in the UK and checked before it leaves. We buy from British producers wherever the range allows it, so what arrives reads closer to a deli shelf than a supermarket one. If the environmental side matters to you, our guide to sustainable gifting sets out how we keep the impact down.
Business gifting is handled by people, not a checkout. We take bulk orders of twenty or more directly and quote for the whole order.
MakeHampers was founded in 2021 and is based in Chester, Cheshire. We are part of Funktion Leisure Ltd, an events and gifting group that has been trading since 2007, and that is where the hospitality background behind the business comes from.
Hampers are hand packed in the UK with artisan food, wine and thoughtful extras. Read more about how we started on our About Us page, or see who you are dealing with on our Meet the Team page.

Most people land between £30 and £50. Under £30 works for a shared office gift or a small thank you. £50 to £100 is close family, a milestone birthday or a client, and above £100 is the larger sharing baskets. Because delivery is free at every price, the figure on the page is the whole cost.
Yes. Orders placed before 1pm on a working day are dispatched for next working day delivery to mainland UK addresses. Orders after 1pm go the following working day. Named day delivery is available Monday to Friday.
Yes, on every product, with no minimum spend. Nothing is added at checkout.
Yes. Put their address in as the delivery address and add a free gift message of up to 240 characters at checkout. One message per delivery address. Always add one, otherwise the recipient has no way of knowing who sent it.
Yes. Choose a different delivery address for each hamper at checkout, and delivery stays free on all of them. Each address can carry its own gift message. For twenty or more addresses there is a bulk order spreadsheet you can fill in and return to info@makehampers.com.
Alcohol advent calendars need to arrive before 1 December, so order those during November. Personal gifts are best placed through late November and early December, ahead of the busiest dispatch period. Companies sending twenty or more should get in touch in the autumn. The last working day before Christmas is the final delivery date.
Yes. Our corporate range covers gifts for clients and gifts for staff, chosen from our standard hamper range. Orders of twenty or more are handled by our team instead of going through the website, so we can quote for the whole order and split delivery across as many addresses as you need.
We stock vegan, gluten free and alcohol free hampers. Every product page carries the full back of pack allergen information as a downloadable PDF. Please read it before ordering. All of our hampers are packed in an environment where nuts are handled, so none are suitable for anyone with a nut allergy, and many contain dairy.
